Does any of these sound like the man on the street begging for food? A roof? Or just water?
Why are we so negligent to see the way Jesus was? And ignore these people…
The blind came to Jesus, He gave the blind eyes… They begged and they received… interesting…
The lame came to Jesus and some apostles… The walked away… They begged and received legs…
Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” (Acts 3:6 NIV)
We are thinking that we must give them what they ask… But if you look at Peter’s response, he gave what the man needed most…

For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: “The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat. (2 Thessalonians 3:10 NIV)

In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers and sisters, to keep away from every believer who is idle and disruptive and does not live according to the teaching you received from us. For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We were not idle when we were with you, nor did we eat anyone’s food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you. We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to offer ourselves as a model for you to imitate. For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: “The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.”
We hear that some among you are idle and disruptive. They are not busy; they are busybodies. Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the food they eat. And as for you, brothers and sisters, never tire of doing what is good. Take special note of anyone who does not obey our instruction in this letter. Do not associate with them, in order that they may feel ashamed. Yet do not regard them as an enemy, but warn them as you would a fellow believer.(2 Thessalonians 3:6-15 NIV)
This does say we have to work… but this does not say we should ignore a cry for help… If any man who is able to work, and can find work… Then you may do as I have done a few times… Yes, even tonight I did it… I pray for the man to receive a job, and if lead to it, I will buy something to eat…
“Lord, I pray that you will give this man his heart desire, yet give him a job and also give him a the urge to do the job… “
A few times have I prayed this, and I heard testimonies of how this comes to pass… Men getting work… And then being able to help themselves…
There is this saying:
Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime
Now how does this work… I can give any person something to eat… But tomorrow he will be back begging… Teach him how to make money… Or grow food… And he will be set for life and food will not be scarce again…
